publishing beyond permission

the stories they're trying hardest to suppress, are the stories we need most.

For too long, BIPOC have asked us to dilute our culture and splice our language to fit a polished hush of consensus. And today, more than ever, the infrastructure for marginalized storytelling has been shrinking.

Prohibition Press exists to build the infrastructure for writers who refuse to compromise their truth.

We publish full manuscripts (books) and issues comprising collections of individual works.

Poetry, memoirs, visual arts and hybrid work, exactly as they were lived.

Your STORY,

YOUR TERMS.

No censorship.

No sanitization.

No bullshit.

We publish books and standalone submissions

Choose the path that fits YOUR WORK

For completed manuscripts.

We publish stories that mainstream publishing overlooks, underfunds, or actively suppresses.

We especially encourage submissions from emerging BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, diasporic, and historically underrepresented writers whose work challenges erasure, displacement, and cultural silencing.

THE ANTHOLOGY

For individual works.

We’re calling on emerging creators to submit their best poetry, visual art or short story for our inaugural anthology, where work that refuses erasure is held together in print.

Selected contributors will help shape what Prohibition Press becomes. No cost to be featured. Contributors are paid if their work is selected.

Submissions are now open for Anthology No. 1.
